Armed with a playful wit and a Ph.D in advanced mathematics, Miri Segal combines a lyrical epistemological interest in the nature of illusion and projection - both optical and psychological. With rigorous ideas inspired by tangential disciplines, she reveals the contradictions and paradoxes of perception. Using seductive visual models and various forms of behavioral game-playing, she disrupts any stable sensory suppositions about the relationship between observer and observed, making one keenly attentive to one's simultaneously participatory and voyeuristic position with her work.
